Stephanie Guevara was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She was involved in her church choir since 12 years old and participated in her high school ensembles and musicals. Her love for music led her to receive a Bachelor’s in Music Education from Loyola University New Orleans in 2021. She studied vocal technique and performance under Mrs. Claire Shackleton and secondary piano studies under Dr. Brian Hsu.
While attending Loyola University New Orleans, she was part of the University Chorale, Women's Chorale, and served as President of the National Association of Music Education Chapter. Additionally, she served as a piano teacher for the Loyola Preparatory Program for elementary and middle school piano students. Outside of school, she taught music, voice, and piano lessons at the School of Rock - Metairie and San Antonio locations.
Apart from teaching, Stephanie was an active singer in her community. She is a former choir member at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. She has been in productions with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and the Loyola Opera Theater. Some performances include L'enfant et les sortilèges by Ravel and Letters to Santa by Logan Skelton. In addition, she performed a solo with the New Orleans Philharmonic Orchestra in the premiere performance of The Fantastical Imagination by Lera Auerbach.
Upon graduating, she was hired as the principal music teacher at Castle Hills Elementary in San Antonio where she led and provided many musical opportunities to all students. During her year of teaching, Stephanie raised over $2,000 to bring back to the music classroom for new instruments. She led 2 productions: A Bugz Christmas with 2nd grade students and Baby Beluga with kindergarten students. In addition, she started a tradition to make the end of the year talent show into a fundraiser for the music classroom. The fundraiser is now called CHE Talent Show City Limits. During this time she led the school choir and started the first orff ensemble at the school. Both groups were able to perform at school events and the Spurs basketball game!
Her passion for music education grew immensely. Inspired by her experience, she pursued a career in fine arts administration and graduated with her Master of Business Administration from the University of Miami-Herbert Business School, where she also served as Vice-President of the Graduate Business Student Association. While completing her degree, she served in the Frost Preparatory Program as both assistant manager and teacher and directed the Frost Young Musicians’ Camp in the summer of 2023. She also gained valuable experience as an intern at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. Currently, she serves as the Middle School Choir Director at True North Classical Academy, where she continues to share her passion for music and inspire the next generation of musicians.
Alongside her professional work in education and the arts, Stephanie has remained deeply committed to her Catholic faith and music ministry. She serves as the lead cantor at St. Louis Catholic Church in Pinecrest, Florida, where she has found great joy in leading the congregation in prayer through song. In addition to parish liturgies, she is available to sing for weddings, funerals, and other special Holy Masses. Of these, funerals hold a special place in her heart, as she believes they are profound moments where we most clearly experience God’s love and mercy. Her faith serves as the foundation of all her professional pursuits, and through her ministry she strives to help others draw closer to God.
